2020/21 season will certainly bring surprises to the sunflower complex market in Ukraine

Hot, dry summer has repeatedly made downward adjustments to sunflower crop forecasts, including when the harvest was already in progress.
UkrAgroConsult currently forecasts the crop at 9% lower from MY 2019/20, yield – by 13% lower.
Noteworthy, officially, 6383.3 Th ha was planted to sunflower for 2020. For the first time in recent years, this figure is maximally close to the real market situation.
Export potential of the sunflower oil market is estimated to decrease by 10% from MY 2019/20, sunflower – by 8%.
In general, the market will be supported by a sunseed shortage and competition for available volumes throughout MY 2020/21. The shortage will manifest itself particularly in the latter half of the season.
