Ukraine decreases sugar exports by 10%
In March of the current marketing year Ukrainian producers exported 30,2 thousand tonnes of sugar to the foreign markets, or 12% less than in the previous month.
«The main deliveries were carried out to Azerbaijan (17%) and Tajikistan (14%). Also, significant volumes were exported to Uzbekistan (13%), Israel (12%) and Kazakhstan (11%)», — commented the deputy chairman «Ukrtsugar» Association Ruslana Butylo.
During the period from September to March 2018/2019 MY, in total, 304,6 thousand tonnes of sugar were exported — 10% less than during the same period of the previous season.
Recall that in 2018/2019 MY Ukrainian sugar production decreased by 15% and amounted to 1,82 million tonnes. There were 42 sugar refineries in operation in the season.
As of April 15, 189 thousand hectares of sugar beet were sown. According to the forecasts of «Ukrsugar» Association, in 2018/2019 MY sugar beet harvested area will reach 220-230 thousand hectares.
