Ukrainian agriproducers completed sowing campaign 2019
Sowing campaign 2019 in Ukraine is complete. By the preliminary data, the total planted area for the country's new crop amounts to 27,7 million hectares, equalling to the previous year's sown areas.
The Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine reports that grain crops cover 14,8 million hectares, industrial — 9,2 million hectares, remaining at the previous year's level.
“Considering the progress of spring field work and wintering of crops, we can expect the harvest of early grains in 2019 to be not lower than the previous one. High yields are the result of the dynamic development of all segments of agricultural production, among which one of the most important is the availability of modern crop varieties to agriproducers. Ukrainian plant breeders are constantly working on creating new varieties with high productivity, adaptability to stress factors, in particular, high resistance to diseases, as well as winter, heat and drought resistance,” said Volodymyr Topchiy, Deputy Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine.
Earlier it was reported that Ukraine should harvest a second record corn crop in 2019/20 marketing year with expectations of 33,1 million mt.
