Ukrainian barley exports in MY 2018/19 at a five-year low
Ukraine exported 3.5 MMT of barley in July-May 2018/19 down 17% year-on-year and the lowest in five years, reports UkrAgroConsult.
The biggest importer of Ukrainian barley – Saudi Arabia (a 65% market share) – exported 2.2 MMT in the reporting period against 1.9 MMT in the entire season 2017/18.
Egypt, Oman and the UAE resumed imports – they made no purchases in MY 2017/18.
Noteworthy, a 90% slump in exports to the EU is registered is this season, while last season EU was the third biggest importer of Ukrainian barley.
Meanwhile, a substantial boost in supplies was observed to Japan (+281%).
Shipments to China dropped by 59%.
