Ukraine increases exports of goods by 7.4% in Q1 2019
In January-March 2019, exports of goods from Ukraine in the first quarter of this year grew by 7.4% compared with the first quarter of last year, the Government portal reported.
According to the data provided by the State Statistics Service of Ukraine, the European Union market was the number one market for Ukrainian exporters over the reporting period. Its share in total exports made up 42.7%. In the commodity segment, agricultural sector and metallurgy products were in the greatest demand. Moreover, the growth of grain exports amounted to 52%.
Also, a 12.3% growth was recorded in the exports of services, with revenues of $2.87 billion. In the services segment, the EU market also ranked first with a share of 33.6%. The most demanded areas were transport, telecommunications, business services, including scientific sector and processing industry.
Over the reporting period, the indicators of overall economic growth contributed to export development trends. According to the data provided by the State Statistics Service, Ukraine’s real GDP growth in the first quarter made up 2.2%. The economy of Ukraine has been growing 13 quarters in a row.
