Without new air defense systems, Ukraine will be left without port infrastructure in a matter of months

As a result of Russian attacks, Ukraine may be left without ports in 2-3 months. New air defense systems are needed to protect them. This was stated by the spokesperson for the Southern Defense Forces Natalia Gumenyuk, Le Monde reports.
“We need air and missile defense. Reinforced, powerful, modern, able to withstand the types of missiles that the enemy uses against us,” Gumenyuk said.
She added that Ukraine also needs F-16 fighter jets, as they are capable of hitting Russian weapons and ships used by the enemy to launch missiles.
The Russians are simultaneously launching cruise missiles, hypersonic missiles and anti-ship missiles when “defense means are dispersed” and not all of them “are able to withstand this threat,” Humeniuk said.
“In two or three months, we may not have a single port left… They want to dominate the Black Sea. They want to have a monopoly on grain. They want to destroy Ukraine as a country capable of feeding the whole world,” the spokeswoman said.
As a reminder, 26 port infrastructure facilities and 5 civilian vessels were damaged and partially destroyed as a result of the Russian attacks.
