USDA worsens sunseed production forecast in Ukraine

The US Department of Agriculture (USDA) has reduced its estimate for sunseed and processed products production in Ukraine in MY 2025/26.

This is evidenced by the data in the USDA report for July.

Thus, the sunseed harvest is forecast at 14 million tons, which is 400 thousand tons less than the previous estimate. Experts left the forecast for oilseed exports at 250 thousand tons.

According to experts, 5.848 million tons of sunflower oil will be produced in Ukraine in MY 2024/25 (-172 thousand tons), of which 5.375 million tons will be exported (-175 thousand tons).

Meal production will amount to 5.617 million tons (-165 thousand tons), and exports are forecast at 4 million tons (-200 thousand tons).

Experts forecast the global sunflower harvest at 56.328 million tons (+137 thousand tons compared to last month’s forecast), oil production at 21.849 million tons (-17 thousand tons), and sunflower meal at 23.096 million tons (-13 thousand tons).
