US soybean exports up from last year

The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) reports that corn and soybean export inspections conducted as of the week ending Aug. 14 are ahead of what is needed to meet projections for the current marketing year.
Soybean shipments totaled 473,600 metric tons, down 70,600 metric tons from the previous week but up 67,600 metric tons from a year earlier, according to the report. Egypt and Mexico were the main destinations for shipments. Soybean inspections for export totaled 48,867,000 metric tons this marketing year, up from 43,794,000 metric tons a year earlier.
Wheat shipments totaled 395,000 metric tons, up 20,900 metric tons from the week ending Aug. 15, 2024. Mexico and Japan were the main destinations. In the 2025/26 marketing year, the volume of wheat inspections since the beginning of the year amounted to 4 million 811 thousand tons, compared to 4 million 640 thousand tons in 2024/25.
The volume of corn exported amounted to 1 million 50 thousand tons, which is 471 thousand tons less than the previous week and 166 thousand tons less than a year earlier. The main supply destinations were also Mexico and Japan. By the end of 2024/25 MY, the volume of corn inspections amounted to 64 million 219 thousand tons, compared to 50 million 160 thousand tons at the end of 2023/24.
The total volume of sorghum amounted to 84 thousand tons, which is 23 thousand tons less than a year earlier. The list of destination countries includes Ethiopia and South Sudan. In 2024/25, the volume of sorghum inspections amounted to 2 million 156 thousand tons, compared to 5 million 792 thousand tons in 2023/24.
Earlier it became known that the main importer of soybeans from the United States, China, completely redirected its purchases towards the markets of South America.
