US in the UN Security Council: Russia has destroyed more than 300 thousand tons of grain after withdrawing from the “grain deal”
After withdrawing from the grain agreement, Russia destroyed more than 300,000 tons of grain, “which would be enough to feed almost 15 million people for a month”.
This was stated by the Deputy Permanent Representative of the United States to the United Nations, Ambassador Robert Wood.
Wood reminded of Russia’s lies about using bats and birds as weapons, its “crusade” against Satanists, protection of Russian speakers, and Russophobia in the world. “Russia hopes that people will believe its lies if they are repeated often enough.”
According to Wood, last winter, Russia not only committed horrific war crimes, but also sought to destroy Ukraine’s energy infrastructure to deprive people of heat and electricity during the coldest time of the year. “We expect Russia to make a new attempt,” he said, adding that airstrikes have already been carried out against energy infrastructure protection systems, and on the day of commemoration of the Holodomor victims.
Russia is also undermining maritime security, international shipping, harassing ships, and attacking maritime infrastructure, he said.
Wood reminded that since withdrawing from the grain initiative, Russia has destroyed more than 300,000 tons of grain, “which would be enough to feed almost 15 million people for a month.” It was only thanks to the efforts of Ukraine and its partners that the Black Sea humanitarian corridor was reopened and food exports became possible again, allowing more than 6.3 million tons of grain and other goods to be delivered to international markets since August.
According to him, Russia is grabbing a piece of the world’s grain markets by using agricultural exports to exert political influence on countries “that are now dependent on Russia for food.”
According to Wood, it is not surprising that Russia was not re-elected to the Council of the International Maritime Organization for the first time since 1960, given Russia’s blatant disregard for maritime security and freedom.
