Last week, American farmers threshed 16% of the area under winter wheat, which allowed them to almost make up for the backlog in harvesting rates.

According to the National Agricultural Statistics Service of the U.S. Department of Agriculture (NASS), by July 6, 53% of the area under winter wheat had been threshed, which is only 1% less than the average for the same date over the past five years.

Spring wheat crops are developing faster than usual. The heading stage has reached 61% of crops (58% on the same date on average over the past five years). The condition of spring wheat worsened last week. The share of crops in good and excellent condition decreased from 53% to 50%, which is 25% less than a year ago.

On the contrary, the condition of corn crops improved last week. The share of corn crops in good and excellent condition increased from 73% to 74%, which is 6% more than last year.
