Uruguay harvested a record wheat crop

Uruguay’s wheat production in 2023 set a record yield despite drought, a report from the country’s Ministry of Livestock, Agriculture and Fisheries showed, Prensa Latina reported on January 13.
Uruguay managed to achieve a record yield of 5 tons per hectare in 2023. The ministry also reported high barley yields.
Officials said that among the factors that contributed to the higher yields were investments in machinery, equipment and in the genetic improvement of cereal varieties.
