Ukrposhta unveils “Bread at the Cost of Life” stamp featuring Hero of Ukraine Hordiienko
Ukrposhta has released a new postage stamp titled “Bread at the Cost of Life”, dedicated to Ukrainian farmers who work under shelling and risk their lives to ensure the country’s food security. CEO Ihor Smilianskyi emphasized that the stamp honors those who sow and harvest crops in mined fields, under constant drone threats, losing equipment, colleagues, and often — their own lives.
According to Smilianskyi, many will recognize on the new stamp the image of Oleksandr Hordiienko, a well-known farmer from Kherson region who was posthumously awarded the title Hero of Ukraine. He defended his fields from enemy drones using a rifle and electronic warfare devices, and even cleared mines on his land by himself. Hordiienko was killed in September by a Russian drone strike.
