Ukrainian sugar exports may break the record for the last 24 years
In 2024, Ukraine reached record levels in some sectors of the agro-industrial complex, in particular, sugar exports are expected to reach 700 thousand tons, which is a record high for the last 24 years.
This was announced by the Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food Vitaliy Koval on Facebook following the results of the XVI International Conference “Doing Agribusiness in Ukraine”.
According to the Minister, this year Ukraine produced a record amount of soybeans – 6 million tons. Also, in 2024, the average milk yield per cow at agricultural enterprises was 6,565 liters, which is 7% more than in the previous year. This is the largest annual increase in the last decade.
“By the end of 2024, we also expect sugar exports from Ukraine to exceed 700 thousand tons, which will be the highest figure since 2000,” Koval said.
At the same time, according to the official, a significant event of this year was the beginning of the whitewashing of the state agricultural land market under the Land Bank project.
The panelists also discussed the myths about the Ukrainian agricultural sector that are actively spread by the enemy in Europe.
The minister emphasized that Ukraine is not a threat to European farmers, but rather can strengthen the EU. Through joint processing of products and development of logistics routes, the EU can rise from fourth to second place in terms of exports.
As reported, in the MY 2023/24 (September 2023 – August 2024), Ukraine exported 691.8 thousand tons of sugar, of which 77% was shipped to the European Union and 23% to the world market.
Further development of the grain sector in the Black Sea and Danube region will be discussed at the 22nd International Conference BLACK SEA GRAIN. EUROPE-2025 on February 13 – 14 in Prague.
