Ukrainian ports handled over 97 mln tons of cargo last year

Ukrainian ports set a new record in 2024, handling 97 million 200 thousand tons of cargo. The figure significantly exceeds the volume of 2023, which amounted to 62 million tons. This was reported by the State Enterprise “Ukrainian Sea Ports Authority”.
The main growth drivers were grain and ore cargo, which accounted for 60 million 300 thousand tons and 18 million 500 thousand tons, respectively.
“One of the most important achievements was the stable functioning of the Ukrainian sea corridor. Thanks to the well-coordinated work of the ports of Greater Odesa, cargo turnover has increased significantly compared to last year. The functioning of the corridor was made possible thanks to the professionalism and selfless work of the Naval Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, which ensure its security,” the statement said.
Last year, the cargo turnover of the Ukrainian corridor reached 79 million 900 thousand tons. In export traffic, 76 million 400 thousand tons were transported to 52 countries. The route was used by 3138 vessels.
Danube ports also played an important role in supporting exports. They transshipped 17 million 300 thousand tons.
“The resumption of cargo turnover was made possible thanks to international support, effective cooperation between the government, public and private stevedoring companies, farmers and all participants in the logistics chain,” the USPA summarized.
Further development of the grain sector in the Black Sea and Danube region will be discussed at the 23 International Conference BLACK SEA GRAIN.KYIV on April 24 in Kyiv.
