Ukrainian meal supplies to the EU are almost at last year’s level

From July 1 to December 3 this year, Ukraine exported almost 638 thousand tons of meal to the EU countries, which is about 1.5% lower than the level for the same period last year (646 thousand tons). These data were published by the European Commission experts. According to their estimates, the decline is due to the decline in sales of sunflower meal to the EU.
Thus, in the reporting period, Ukraine shipped about 156 thsd tonnes of soybean meal to Europe (2.5% of total EU sales), compared to 120.2 thsd tonnes a year earlier. The country ranks 5th in the ranking of key suppliers, behind Brazil (4.23 mln tonnes), Argentina (1.07 mln tonnes), the USA (293.5 thsd tonnes) and Paraguay (262.9 thsd tonnes).
Shipments of rapeseed meal almost tripled from 36.4 thsd tonnes to 104.52 thsd tonnes (24.5%). Since the beginning of July, only Russia and Belarus have shipped more of this product to the EU – 172.2 thsd tonnes (40.4%) and 117.7 thsd tonnes (27.6%), respectively.
In the sunflower meal category, Ukraine still holds the leading position in sales to Europe, although over the year, supplies in this direction dropped by 23% to 376.9 thsd tonnes (36%). This is followed by Argentina, which exported 328.1 thsd tonnes of the product (31.3%), and Russia with 174.8 thsd tonnes (16.7%).
