Ukraine’s pressure on agricultural imports goes beyond certain limits – Polish Foreign Ministry
The Polish Foreign Ministry has commented on Ukraine’s complaint to the World Trade Organization over the situation with the ban on agricultural imports. This was stated by Minister for EU Affairs Shimon Shinkovskiy vel Senk.
The Minister was asked about Ukraine’s possible complaint to the World Trade Organization.
“This is a threat, and it is another element of pressure from the Ukrainian side. These elements sometimes go beyond the scope of classical diplomacy on the part of Ukraine. It uses means of diplomatic pressure, sometimes very non-standard, and goes beyond certain limits,” he said.
According to him, the Polish side is not impressed by this, because its priority is to protect Polish farmers and Polish citizens.
“We are not impressed by such gestures or threats, it is just an element of pressure, but pressure that will not be effective,” said Szinkowski vel Senk.
He also reiterated what politicians of the ruling Law and Justice party have been saying for several weeks: the embargo on Ukrainian goods will not be lifted after September 15.
“Sometimes we have to use elements of national action if there is not enough action at the EU level, but we are fighting for decisions to be made at the EU level. We have strong arguments. They are presented by both the Minister of Agriculture and Commissioner Wojciechowski at the European Commission level to extend this decision (to maintain the blockade of agricultural imports from Ukraine – Ed.),” summarized Schinkowski vel Senk.
