Ukraine’s corn harvest continues to lag behind last year’s pace amid high moisture levels

Ukrainian farmers have harvested grains and pulses from 7.9 mln ha (67% of forecast area), collecting 34.7 mln t at an average yield of 4.35 t/ha, according to the latest data.
This includes:
- Wheat — 22.78 mln t from 5.04 mln ha (98%), average yield 4.51 t/ha;
- Barley — 5.35 mln t from 1.35 mln ha (98%), yield 3.97 t/ha;
- Peas — 658 K t from 271 K ha (97%), yield 2.43 t/ha;
- Buckwheat — 82.4 K t from 59 K ha (80%), yield 1.4 t/ha;
- Millet — 60 K t from 35.7 K ha (60%), yield 1.68 t/ha;
- Corn — 4.9 mln t from 895 K ha (15%), average yield 5.5 t/ha.
Corn harvesting across Ukraine remains significantly slower than usual due to delayed crop maturity and challenging weather conditions. Persistent rains and high humidity are forcing many producers to postpone harvesting or leave corn in the field to dry naturally. Despite the delays, average yields are gradually improving, currently reaching around 5.5 t/ha, suggesting solid crop potential for the season.
Harvesting of oilseeds and other crops is also ongoing:
- Rapeseed — 3.3 mln t from 1.25 mln ha (101%), yield 2.6 t/ha;
- Sunflower seeds — 7.19 mln t from 3.9 mln ha (67%), yield 1.84 t/ha;
- Soybeans — 3.08 mln t from 1.34 mln ha (56%), yield 2.29 t/ha;
- Sugar beet — 4.7 mln t from 90 K ha (35%), yield 52.4 t/ha.
