Ukraine will produce 1.55 million tons of sugar in 2024/25 season
The total sugar production in the season 2024/25 will amount to 1.55 million tons.
This forecast was announced in a comment to AgroPortal.ua by the acting Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine Taras Vysotsky.
According to him, taking into account the transitional balances, the volume of sugar supply in Ukraine will be more than twice as high as the domestic market needs, which are estimated at 0.95 million tons.
At the same time, Taras Vysotsky adds that as of the beginning of August, 33 sugar factories in Ukraine were technically prepared for the current season.
“We hope that nothing will interfere with their work. Traditionally, in the first half of the season, sugar factories process the bulk of the harvest. We expect at least 11.5 million tons of sugar beet to be processed by the end of the year,” he said.
The agency also adds that at the beginning of the new season (September 2024), the carry-over sugar stocks in Ukraine will amount to 416 thousand tons. This is 96 thousand tons, or 30% more than at the same date last season.
