Ukraine will not be able to cope with sunflower harvest without exporting oil through deepwater ports
In the new marketing year, the company expects a significant increase in production of the main types of oilseeds by 18.8%. This result is possible due to an increase in the area by 12.1% and an increase in the percentage of yield to an average of 5.7%. This was stated by Stepan Kapshuk, Director of the Ukroliyaprom Association.
“The largest production growth is forecasted for sunflower seeds – by 15%. However, it is necessary to take into account their much lower carry-over stocks at the beginning of 2023/24 MY compared to the beginning of 2022/23 MY. Accordingly, the supply in 2023/24 MY will be lower, which requires urgent measures at the governmental level to create conditions for maximum domestic processing and increase of exports of high value-added products,” – says Stepan Kapshuk.
He added that the issue of sunflower oil exports through deep-water ports also needs to be resolved.
