Ukraine does not seek to flood the European Union market with its products, but wants to remain a global exporter. This was stated by the head of the All-Ukrainian Agrarian Council Andriy Dykun during a congress organized by the Polish Meat Association, writes Farmer.pl.

“You are afraid of us, and we are afraid of you. We are afraid of this too. And most of all, we are afraid that the decision on Ukraine’s accession to the EU will be a political decision that will cause you suffering — and we do not want that. We do not want to harm you. Because for us, the EU market does not make much sense. We produce goods that we can sell on the world market. And the main role of Ukraine in the future, after joining the EU, will be to be the largest producer of food in the world. Our main goal will be to protect the EU from the influx of immigrants from Africa and to feed Africa. We can produce feed, and we can produce more of it. So the EU market is not something our farmers are sitting around thinking about. It doesn’t look like that. Really. We are not thinking about suddenly entering and selling in the EU,” Dykun assured.

In his opinion, a joint analysis of the future of integration with the EU is needed, since there is currently a lack of any research and scenarios for this transformation. And what is needed is not emotions, but cooperation.

“Ukraine will be the first country to join the EU in order to help the European market. And we are really the only country that will have the most efficient agricultural sector in Europe after accession. And after this war — I think, after three years of war — our agricultural sector will become even more efficient,” Dykun concluded.

Stefan Chrzanowski, director of the office of the Polish Association of Poultry Producers POLDRÓB, also commented on this issue.

“I admired the Ukrainian side from the very beginning, not only for their struggle, but also for how, despite the difficult situation, they analyze their current economic situation. Why can they do this? Because they have specific goals, specific strategies, and they are also responsible for these goals. This is visible in every segment, in every sector,” said Chshanovsky.
