Ukraine. “Ukrzaliznytsia increased grain and vegetable oil transportation in November
In November 2023, Ukrzaliznytsia transported the largest volume of cargo in the export direction since the beginning of the Russian invasion – 6.1 million tons. This is 25% more than in October this year and 56% more than in November 2022.
In terms of the range of cargoes in November, grain cargoes took the first place in exports – 2.43 million tons (39.9%), followed by ore – 2.32 million tons (38.1%), and ferrous metals – 0.41 million tons (6.7%).
Grain transportation to ports in November amounted to 1.7 million tons, which is 1.7 times more than in October this year. At the same time, transportation towards the western border crossings decreased by 4.2% to 717.6 thsd tonnes compared to October.
Also, compared to November 2022, the export transportation of vegetable oil increased by 16.7%, amounting to 154 thsd tonnes. It is noteworthy that this is only 16 thsd tonnes less than in November 2021.
As a reminder, in November 2023, according to operational data, Ukrzaliznytsia transported 14 million tons of cargo, which is 33.8% more than in the same period of 2022 and 4% more than in October 2023. In total, in January-November 2023, the company transported 134.7 million tons of cargo, which is 4.1% less compared to the same period last year. This figure is also half as much as in the same period of 2021, when 287 million tons of cargo were transported by rail.
