Ukraine. The fall of 2021 turned out to be the driest in 20 years
Late October and early November featured sharp swings in air temperature, light precipitation, fogs and night frosts. Farmers continue harvesting late grains and pulses and planting winter crops. Winter crop conditions are fair to good, UkrAgroConsult reports.
Most of the country saw no precipitation. Light precipitation (mostly in the form of dew and fog) only occurred in some areas of Dnipropetrovsk, Kherson, Chernihiv and Sumy regions (7-16 mm). The fall of 2021 turned out to be the driest in 20 years, especially October. This resulted in lower soil moisture content available to winter crops, but low air temperatures, many cool and sometimes even cold days, abundant dews and fogs prevented large-scale drought.
Weather forecast for November 9-14:
– 5-15 mm of precipitation is expected in the southern and eastern regions. The north will likely receive 2-5 mm. The rest of the country will stay dry;
– Air temperatures were +5 … +5°C in the daytime, -2 … -4°C at night in the West; +2 … +4°C in the daytime, -2… -4°C at night in the North; +2 … +4°C in the daytime, -2 … -4°C at night in the East; +3 … +5°C in the daytime, -2… -4°C at night in Central Ukraine; +6 … +8°C in the daytime, -1 … -3°C at night in the South.
