Ukraine starts sowing wheat and barley

As of March 9, 2023, the projected areas under major spring crops for the 2023 harvest in the territory controlled by Ukraine amount to 5 700.1 thou hectares, down 206.5 thou hectares from the previous year.
Only one region – Odesa – has started sowing spring crops, while as of the corresponding date last year, Ukraine had not started sowing yet.
Thus, all categories of farms in Odesa region sowed 16.1 thou hectares of grains and legumes, including 6.7 thou hectares of spring wheat, 5.9 thou hectares of spring barley and 3.5 thou hectares of peas.
