Ukraine sows 4.7 million hectares of spring grain

Last week, Ukrainian farmers sowed 1 mln 105.6 thsd ha of grains and pulses, including 1 mln ha of corn. Poltava region is the leader with 155.1 thou hectares.
In total, 4 mln 693 thsd ha of grains and pulses have been sown, including
- spring wheat – 256.9 thou hectares
- spring barley – 759.6 thou hectares;
- peas – 132.7 thousand hectares;
- oats – 143.1 thou hectares;
- corn – 3 million 266.0 thousand hectares;
- buckwheat – 43.3 thou hectares;
- millet – 24.7 thou hectares;
- other grains and pulses – 66.6 thou hectares.
Sugar beet sowing is nearing completion, with 207.4 thou hectares planted. Sunflower was sown on the area of 3 965.9 thou hectares. Last week, agricultural producers in Kirovograd region were the leaders with 215 thou hectares.
Soybean planting was carried out on the area of 1 260.9 thou hectares, most of all in Zhytomyr region – 77.3 thou hectares.
