Ukraine. Scarce soil moisture and low air temperatures are not favorable enough for emergence and growth of winter crops
The first week of October witnessed abnormally cold weather for this time of year. Ground frosts occurred in most regions. Winter crops are in good and fair conditions.
However, the present weather conditions are not favorable enough for emergence, growth and development of winter grains because of comparatively scarce soil moisture and rather low air temperatures, UkrAgroConsult reports.
In the first week of October, the southern and eastern regions received precipitation almost every day, but it locally occurred in the form of downpours and was distributed unevenly.
Weather forecast for October 13-17:
– Precipitation (15-35 mm) is expected in the western regions. The central, southern and northern regions will receive 5-15 mm, while the east will get 2-5 mm;
– Air temperatures will be +7 … +9°C in the daytime, +2 … +4°C at night in the West; +9 … +11°C in the daytime, +6… +8°C at night in the North; +15 … +17°C in the daytime, +7 … +9°C at night in the East; +11 … +13°C in the daytime, +6… +8°C at night in Central Ukraine; +13 … +15°C in the daytime, +6 … +8°C at night in the South.
