Ukraine, Romania and the EU strengthen cooperation on the development of Danube ports

A trilateral meeting of representatives of Ukraine, Romania and the European Commission took place in Galati within the framework of the “Paths of Solidarity” initiative. The event, organized in a hybrid format, was aimed at strengthening cooperation in the Danube region and coordinating efforts to develop transport infrastructure.
This was reported by the press service of the Ukrainian Sea Ports Authority.
The participants agreed to improve the PRIMUS information platform to optimize data exchange between the port administrations of Ukraine and Romania, as well as to deepen cooperation in the field of shipping safety and develop the logistics potential of the region. In addition, the parties confirmed their intentions regarding the need to prepare a Memorandum of Understanding, which will lay the foundation for strengthening regional partnership.
“Danube ports have become Ukraine’s key logistics gateway to Europe. And therefore, it is important to develop and increase systemic, transparent and technological cooperation with Romanian and European partners now,” said Oleksandr Semirga, Head of the State Enterprise “USPA”.
The meeting in Galati confirmed the common determination of the parties to further strengthen logistical ties and integrate the transport networks of Ukraine and the EU, which is of particular importance in the context of martial law and for the future economic recovery of the region. These efforts are becoming even more relevant in view of Ukraine’s future accession to the European Union.
