Ukraine resumes ferry service with Georgia
Ukrferry resumes ferry service between Chornomorsk and Batumi, which was suspended at the beginning of the full-scale invasion. The ferry schedule has been published on the company’s website.
According to the schedule, the first flight from Chornomorsk is scheduled for July 2. The travel time is about 60 hours.
The route will be operated by the Kaunas road-rail/passenger ferry, built in 1989 in Germany. It is under the classification supervision of Lloyd, according to the Ukrferry website.
The ferry has 250 passenger seats in suites, junior suites, two- and three-bed cabins with all amenities. Passenger amenities include a restaurant, bar, lounge, lounge with video and satellite TV, and a children’s area.
The vessel’s high seaworthiness and impressive dimensions (length – over 190 m, width – 28 m) allow it to minimize pitching even in stormy conditions. The two cargo decks can simultaneously accommodate 49 universal railroad cars and 50 TIR heavy trucks.
