Ukraine. Producers expect pumpkin seed prices to rise

Due to the low pumpkin harvest in the central part of Ukraine and the overall decrease in yields by 30% due to the cold spring, producers predict an increase in pumpkin seed prices. This was stated by Oleksandr Kulyk, a wholesale buyer of pumpkin seeds.
He noted that his suppliers will continue to plant pumpkins, and they plan to increase the area, as grain is very cheap and unprofitable to grow. At the same time, they are not going to unite to sell large quantities. This practice is more typical for small farms.
“We process the seeds of the naked-seeded Styrian variety for oil. Unfortunately, the market share of pumpkin seed oil in Ukraine is too small, if not negligible, so there is no point in processing on an industrial scale,” says Oleksandr Kulyk.
