Ukraine. Olive gardens may appear in Kherson region

The international investment company TIASI proposes to establish olive and peach plantations in the Kherson region, which can be economically attractive in the context of climate change.
The head of the Kherson OVA, Oleksandr Prokudin, reported this on his Facebook page.
“I met with the founder and CEO of TIASI, Sotiris A. Buzeas.
This is an international project that promotes cooperation and investments in the aerospace industry, technology, advanced manufacturing and the academic sector in the EU, the Middle East, North Africa and Canada.
They discussed cooperation between the Kherson region and the regions of Greece.
Mr. Sotiris shared successful examples of the implementation of his projects in the development of maritime infrastructure and shipbuilding. He is confident that this experience can be spread to the Kherson region.
He also proposed an investment idea for our region – planting olive and peach plantations. “The climate changes observed recently in southern Ukraine dictate new rules for farmers. Traditional crops that were previously profitable are losing their business appeal due to reduced yields in the new climatic realities,” said Oleksandr Prokudin.
The head of the region concluded that growing olives and producing olive oil can be profitable for local farmers, create additional jobs and help develop the region’s economy.
Further development of the grain sector in the Black Sea and Danube region will be discussed at the 23 International Conference BLACK SEA GRAIN.KYIV on April 24 in Kyiv.
