Ukraine is trying to increase the monthly export of agricultural products to 1.5 million tons
In the conditions of blocked ports, the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine is trying to increase the export of agricultural products to 1.5 million tons per month. This was announced by Taras Vysotsky, First Deputy Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine, the press service of the ministry reports.
“Ukraine has consistently been in the top 5 exporters in recent years. 90% of exports took place through the ports of Odessa and Nikolaev. In fact, these ports have been closed for more than a month. In February, 150,000 tons of agricultural products were exported by rail, and in March, 300,000 tons. The potential can reach 1.5 million tons. There is an analysis of all points, we are working to use all opportunities, “Vysotsky said.
According to him, the main task for the Ministry of Agrarian Policy, as he explained, is to reorient the logistics of exports.
“In addition, the enemy destroyed six granaries. In terms of total consumption, there are losses, but not critical. We have more than enough food in domestic stocks, which is more than we need for annual consumption. At the same time, farmers need to earn money in order to continue sowing, they need to sell the product to feed the livestock and support the sector“, said the Deputy Minister.
