Ukraine is recognized as a leader in food supply

On August 17, the bulk carrier BRAVE COMMANDER under the flag of Liberia left the port “Pyvdenny”. 23,000 tons of wheat went to Ethiopia to overcome the problem of famine in East Africa. The ship was chartered within the framework of the UN World Food Program. This was reported by the Ministry of Agricultural Policy, writes agronews.ua.
It should be noted that, according to the results of recent years, Ukraine held the leadership within the framework of the World Food Program (WFP) in the supply of food for humanitarian operations. In general, in 2021, Ukraine sent 20% of food from UN programs. The share of Ukraine was greater than that of Turkey and Russia together.
In the first half of 2022, WFP bought about 60,000 tons of wheat and 36,500 tons of peas for export.
We would like to remind that 17 vessels have already left Ukrainian ports as part of the implementation of the Initiative on safe transportation of agricultural products. They have more than 475,000 tons of food on board.
