Ukraine. If winter crops are lost, farmers will increase the area under peas
Pea prices were quite high this season, at UAH 15-16 per 1 ton on CPT (Odesa). Therefore, the area under peas may increase, especially if there will be losses of winter crops after wintering.
This was stated by Maksym Kharchenko, grain market analyst at UkrAgroConsult, during the All-Ukrainian practical forum “Agronomy Day”.
“The price of peas grew for several reasons. First of all, India canceled the import duties on peas. The price increase was also influenced by the fact that new processing facilities are being built in Ukraine. We do not exclude that peas may be attractive to farmers this year, despite the not very high yields last season,” says Maksym Kharchenko.
