Ukraine harvested 1 mln tons of corn

Ukraine has harvested 39.06 million tons of new crops on an area of 10.9 million hectares. In total, 30.08 million tons of grain, 8.2 million tons of oilseeds and 741.5 thsd tons of sugar beet were harvested.

  • wheat – threshed on an area of 4.9 million hectares, harvested 21.8 million tons;
  • barley – 1.4 million hectares were harvested, with a harvest of 5.5 million tons;
  • peas – 212.2 thou hectares were harvested, 461.6 thou tons were harvested;
  • millet – 56.8 thousand hectares were harvested, with a yield of 110.4 thousand tons;
  • buckwheat – 56.2 thou hectares harvested, 88.2 thou tons harvested;
  • rapeseed – 1.3 million hectares harvested, 3.4 million tons of seeds harvested;
  • sunseed – 1.5 million hectares were harvested, 2.97 million tons of seeds were harvested;
  • soybeans – 909.5 thousand hectares were harvested, 1.8 million tons of seeds were harvested;
  • corn – 255.3 thou hectares were harvested, 1.1 mln tons of seeds were harvested.

Vinnytsia region is the leader in grain harvesting, having threshed 2.1 mln ha. Khmelnytsky region is ahead in terms of yields with 6.29 t/ha.

Almost all regions are harvesting sunseed. Agrarians in eight regions – Vinnytsia, Volyn, Lviv, Poltava, Ternopil, Khmelnytsky, Cherkasy and Bukovyna – are harvesting sugar beet.

Ukrainian farmers also exported 1 mln 163 thsd tons of barley and 7.5 thsd tons of rye.

Exports of Ukrainian corn amounted to 2 mln 498 thsd tons, which is 187 thsd tons or almost 8.0% more than last year.

In addition, 14.4 thousand tons of flour (or 19.2 thsd tons in terms of grain) were shipped abroad, which is 14.4 thsd tons or more than half as much as last year.
