Ukraine exported over 403.5 thousand tons of sugar

In the first 6 months of the 2024/25 marketing year (from September 2024 to February 2025), Ukraine exported over 403.5 thousand tons of sugar. 98.4% of the volume was sent to the world market, 1.6% to EU countries.
This was reported by the press service of the National Association of Sugar Producers of Ukraine “Ukrtsukor”.
Exports to the EU resumed in February and amounted to 6,559 tons. The main EU countries where Ukrainian sugar went were Bulgaria (72% of the exported volume), Greece (12%) and Italy (12%).
In general, the main export destinations of Ukrainian sugar in the first 6 months of the 2024/25 marketing year remain:
- Turkey (18% of all exports);
- Libya;
- North Macedonia;
- Somalia;
- Sri Lanka.
In the 2024 production season, Ukrainian sugar producers produced 1.8 million tons of sugar. The volume of the domestic market in Ukraine is currently estimated at 900 thousand tons per year.
