Ukraine exported 2.4 mln tons of rapeseed since the beginning of the season

According to the customs statistics, Ukraine exported 337 thsd tonnes of rapeseed in November 2023, down 100 thsd tonnes compared to the previous month.
Despite the decrease compared to October, the Ukrainian export of rapeseed remains quite active, since the beginning of 2023/24 season Ukrainian companies exported almost 2.4 mln tonnes (2.8 mln tonnes in the same period of 2022/23 season).
In addition, rapeseed processing and exports of rapeseed products increased significantly. In 2022/23 season, Ukraine exported 84 thsd tonnes of rapeseed oil, while in 2023/24 season (July-November 2023) – 340 thsd tonnes (including 49 thsd tonnes in November).
We remind that the total rapeseed harvest in Ukraine in 2023 amounted to 4 mln tonnes, so most of the rapeseed crop has already been exported or processed, and we expect the exports to decline in the coming months.
One of the main reasons for the growth of rapeseed processing and exports of rapeseed products is the significant logistics costs associated with exports – it is more profitable to export value-added products compared to rapeseed.
