Ukraine doubles exports of rapeseed oil to the EU
From July 1, 2023, to January 14, 2024, Ukraine exported almost 1.4 million tons of vegetable oils to the EU countries. Such data was published in the report of the European Commission. The shipment of these products increased by more than 23% compared to the same period of the previous agricultural year (1.126 mln tons).
The materials emphasize that the supply of Ukrainian sunflower oil to the EU increased by 23% to 1.178 mln tons over 6.5 months. Shipments of rapeseed oil doubled to 93.19 thousand tons. On the contrary, exports of soybean oil fell by 5% to 118.72 thousand tons.
As for the meal of Ukrainian origin, in the reporting period, its sales to Europe amounted to 839 thsd tonnes, compared to 854.66 thsd tonnes in the previous season. According to the EC, the exports of soybean and rapeseed meal increased by 43.6% and 170% to 220.25 thsd tonnes and 121.42 thsd tonnes respectively. Sunflower meal supplies decreased by 24% to 497.33 thsd tonnes.
In the oilseeds category, there was a significant decline in sales – from 4.6 million tons to 2.53 million tons. In the new agricultural year, sales of sunflower slowed down sharply – from 1.445 million tons to 113.1 thousand tons. Rapeseed exports decreased from 2.64 million tons to 1.94 million tons, and soybean exports decreased from 605 thousand tons to 469.76 thousand tons.
