Ukraine. Danube ports set an absolute record for cargo transshipment
In May, Danube ports handled 3 million tons of products. This is an absolute record for the ports of this region.
This is stated in the message of the Ukrainian Sea Ports Authority on Facebook.
“World-renowned companies are already investing in the development of port facilities and fleet on the Danube, which allows them to constantly increase the volume of exports and imports. This month, public and private stevedoring companies have updated their historical records,” commented Yuriy Lytvyn, CEO of the company.
He noted that the development of the Danube cluster ports is a priority for European partners: the European Commission and the Danube Commission in cooperation with the Lower Danube Administration and the Romanian Ministry of Transport are working to increase the capacity of the Sulin Canal, as this also affects the productive operation of the Danube region’s ports.
