Ukraine. Continental Farmers Group shipped 121 thou. t of milling wheat to Saudi Arabia
Continental Farmers Group (CFG), a subsidiary of Saudi Arabia’s SALIC in Ukraine, delivered 121 thou. t of high-quality flour wheat to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
Two Panamax-class vessels carrying Ukrainian wheat have already been unloaded at the ports of Jeddah and Yanbu, the company reports. The supply was carried out under a direct contract concluded with the Saudi Arabia Grains Organization (SAGO), the state procurement organization.
For the Continental Farmers Group, this was the second direct supply of wheat to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia: in 2020, the company already had exported 60 thou. t of high-quality flour wheat to Saudi Arabia. That was the first direct supply of Ukrainian wheat to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia since 2008, which is related to the high requirements of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to grain quality.
“This year, we, same as many other agricultural producers, faced difficulties related to timely delivery of grain to the ports due to the lack of railway cars and locomotive traction at the railways. I would like to commend all teams and partners for their coordinated work. Owing to them, we managed to deliver the planned amount of wheat in time to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The Continental Farmers Group confirmed again its status of a reliable supplier of high-quality products,” Yurii Kuzmiyak, Continental Farmers Group Commercial Director, notes.
Continental Farmers Group CEO Georg v. Nolcken adds that the company managed to open up the export market of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to Ukrainian wheat. He marks that CFG doubled the amount of direct exports as compared to 2020.
“To Ukraine, this is a promising market and, to the Continental Farmers Group, a confirmation of the high quality of the Company products,” Georg v. Nolcken, Continental Farmers Group CEO comments.
In its November report, the USDA projects wheat production in Ukraine in 2021/22 at 33 mln t.
Wheat export from Ukraine in 2021/22 was limited to 25.3 mln t. The Memorandum of Understanding was signed by the Agrarian Ministry and grain market participants.
