Ukraine and Romania solved the problem of traffic jams on the Danube
Ukraine and Romania have reached agreements in principle regarding the development of merchant shipping in the Lower Danube region.
This is stated in the message of the Administration of Sea Ports of Ukraine on Facebook.
In particular, Ukraine has more than doubled the number of pilots — from 16 to 40. Agreements have also been reached on the modernization of the infrastructure of the Sulinsky Canal and the transition of the water artery to 24/7 operation mode.
“My Romanian colleagues and I understand the problem with the exit and queue at Čatal. In this, a road map of joint actions was developed. Therefore, in the near future, we expect a significant effect and the absence of exit queues.
The synergy of the port authorities of the two countries, transparent and understandable tools on the market and the openness of the formation of the queue for ship calls are already bearing fruit. We see the arrival of large global operators on the market. In particular, the opening of new container terminals,” said Oleksiy Vostrikov, head of the Administration of Sea Ports of Ukraine.
