Ukraine and Poland are ready to expand agricultural trade

Ukraine and Poland are preparing to expand agricultural cooperation and strengthen trade relations. In Warsaw, the Minister of Agrarian Policy of Ukraine, Vitaliy Koval, discussed with his Polish counterpart, Czesław Sekerski, the continuity of Ukrainian agricultural exports, the adaptation of legislation to EU standards, and the expansion of markets.
Koval emphasized that Ukraine and Poland have common goals – victory in the war, good neighborly relations, and economic development. An important step in achieving these goals is effective cooperation between Ukrainian agricultural producers and the European Union.
He expressed hope that Poland can become a leader in ensuring the continuity and predictability of trade conditions between Ukraine and the EU after the end of the Autonomous Trade Preferences (“visa-free trade”) on June 5.
The parties paid special attention to the adaptation of Ukrainian agricultural legislation to European standards. Polish partners shared their experience in implementing technical regulations, which will help Ukraine harmonize its standards and make this process beneficial for all market participants.
Another important aspect of the negotiations was the expansion of markets and joint innovations. Kowal notes that the mutual exchange of experience and the introduction of modern technologies will contribute to strengthening the agricultural sector of both countries, making it more competitive.
The Polish market has significant demand for organic products, protein feed, rapeseed and soybean meal. Ukrainian producers are ready to increase the supply of these goods, which will contribute to the development of Polish livestock farming and strengthen the economic partnership between the countries.
We would like to add that in 2024, Ukraine and the EU set a record in agricultural trade. Mutual trade in agricultural products reached a record level of almost $17 bln.
