Ukraine and Japan have many areas for productive cooperation in the agricultural sector
Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine Vitaliy Koval met with representatives of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and the Japanese company “Zensho”. Deputy Minister Oksana Osmachko also took part in the meeting.
The parties discussed possible areas of cooperation in the agricultural sector and trade.
“Zensho” has 15 thousand restaurants around the world, 10 thousand of which are in Europe. Therefore, they are interested in our agricultural products. In particular, vegetables – potatoes, cabbage and onions. In addition, we need to build vegetable storage facilities in Ukraine. Because of their shortage, 35% of vegetables do not reach the consumer. Our cooperation can be actively developed in the areas of food technologies, the development of meat cattle breeding, growing rice crops and the production of dairy products,” Vitaliy Koval emphasized.
The Minister noted that this is not only about the export of agricultural products to Japan, but also about the opening of a processing plant in Ukraine for the production of udon and ramen. Investments in value-added products are important for Ukraine. After all, the development of deep processing is one of the priorities of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy.
“This is only the first meeting with representatives of a Japanese company. I am sure that together we will have more than one success story. After all, even the name of the company “Zensho” is translated from Japanese as “victorious, successful business”. And it is nice that they not only see cooperation with Ukrainian business, but are also ready to invest in the development of the agricultural sector in Ukraine,” the Minister emphasized.
