Exports of agro-products grew by 3.3% compared to 2023 and accounted for 16% of Turkey’s total exports. Of the 10 agricultural sub-sectors, two reached record annual export volumes.

Exports of fruits and vegetables totaled $2.7 billion and exports of dried fruits and related products totaled $1.9 billion. Exports in these categories were up 1.2 percent and 0.8 percent, respectively, from the previous year.

The U.S. and Germany were the largest exporters of agricultural products from Turkey in 2024. Exports of dried fruits and related products to Germany totaled $247.3 million, while exports of fruits and vegetables to the U.S. reached $429.4 million.

Melisa Tokgoz Mutlu, chairwoman of the Istanbul Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Exporters Association, said the country plans to increase agricultural exports to $40 billion in the coming years.

Turkey plans to strengthen its position in strategic markets such as the European Union, the Middle East, North Africa and East Asia.

Mutlu also noted the growing demand for Turkish agricultural products in countries such as Saudi Arabia, Qatar and the UAE in the Middle East; Algeria, Morocco and Egypt in North Africa; and China and Japan in East Asia.

Further development of the grain sector in the Black Sea and Danube region will be discussed at the 23 International Conference BLACK SEA GRAIN.KYIV on April 24 in Kyiv.
