Turkey lost more than a quarter of its hazelnut exports in a year
The past year 2025 was a difficult one for Turkish nut producers, as the industry showed a significant decline in both money and tons. According to official data, the country’s income from hazelnut sales decreased by $380 million compared to the previous season.
This was reported by the Anadolu Agency.
The head of the specialized exporters’ union, Hasan Osman Sabir, noted that 238,704 tons of products were sold in 2025. This brought the country more than $2.25 billion in revenue. Despite the significant amount, the dynamics are worrying market experts.
A comparison with the indicators of 2024 indicates crisis phenomena. The number of goods sold fell by 26 percent, and profits decreased by 14 percent. Experts emphasize that the situation with the start of the new season in September-December generally resembles the indicators of forty years ago.
Industry representatives are calling for immediate action in 2026. They say the sector needs a comprehensive solution to stabilize exports and support nut farms.
