Turkey expands durum wheat acreage

Turkey is expanding its wheat acreage. But it is important to understand that Turkey is seeking to increase its durum wheat harvest, while its soft wheat harvest is stable.
Under standard conditions, Turkey accounts for 3% of global wheat imports. This season, due to significant accumulated stocks, the share has decreased to 1%, Dr. Eren Günhan Ulusoy said at the Global Grain and Pulses Forum.
The expert does not expect a sharp increase in imports after the lifting of wheat import restrictions, since the new domestic wheat crop will enter the market in June.
Further development of the grain sector in the Black Sea and Danube region will be discussed at the 23 International Conference BLACK SEA GRAIN.KYIV on April 24 in Kyiv.
