Trump signs executive orders imposing tariffs on imports from Canada, Mexico and China

US President Donald Trump has signed executive orders imposing significant tariffs on imports of goods from Canada, Mexico, and China.
According to Trump, U.S. importers will pay a new 25% tax on goods from Canada and Mexico, as well as a 10% duty on goods from China, in addition to the existing duties of up to 25%. There will also be a 10% duty on energy products, including crude oil imports from Canada.
The new tariffs will take effect on Tuesday, February 4 at 19:01 Kyiv time.
Under the trade deal Trump signed during his first term, most goods from Canada and Mexico were not tariffed, while many Chinese goods were taxed at up to 25%. The new tariffs will put an additional burden on importers.
According to a White House official, Trump signed a total of three executive orders imposing additional tariffs. This was the first step by the Trump administration in its second trade war.
