Trump threatens China with additional 50% tariffs if it doesn’t remove its tariffs

The US will impose an additional 50% tariff on Chinese imports if Beijing does not cancel its 34% tariff on US imports, which it imposed in response to recent US tariffs. US President Donald Trump wrote about this on his social network TruthSocial on April 7.
According to Trump, if China does not cancel its 34% tariff increase by tomorrow (April 8), the United States will impose additional tariffs on China in the amount of 50%, starting April 9.
“In addition, all negotiations with China regarding the meetings they have invited with us will be terminated! Negotiations with other countries that have also requested meetings will begin immediately,” the US president wrote.
Recall that after returning to the White House in January, Trump imposed a 20% tariff on all goods from China; threatened to impose 25% tariffs on most goods from Canada and Mexico, and postponed their implementation; imposed high tariffs on steel and aluminum imports; announced a 25% tariff on imported cars; and announced that on April 2, he would unveil global reciprocal tariffs.
On April 4, China announced that it would impose a 34% tariff on imported American goods on top of existing tariffs in response to similar US actions on Chinese imports. At the time, Trump stressed that his economic policy “will never change” and criticized China for the announced tariffs.
