Transit of Ukrainian grain through Belarus is impossible
There are currently no objective chances for organizing the transit of Ukrainian goods through Belarus due to security risks.
This opinion was expressed by the Deputy Minister of Economy, Trade Representative of Ukraine Taras Kachka.
“Such an idea was once considered, but it is clear that in the current environment it is not realistic from the point of view of security risks,” he said.
Kachka emphasized that rail and road transit to Baltic ports cannot be taken seriously due to the security situation.
He added that currently there are “two whales” for Ukraine, on which plans are being built to expand exports – the unblocking of Black Sea ports, in particular Mykolaiv, and the development of infrastructure in the west of the country, in which businesses are ready to be helped by IFO`s, primarily the EBRD, and to finance projects.
“Freedom of navigation, freedom of transport is what we strive for. The situation, when it is necessary to agree on security guarantees for one or another route, is nonsense, an example of how wars interfere with trade,” Kachka noted.
