Traffic on the Bosphorus temporarily suspended

On May 7, traffic in the Bosphorus Strait was suspended due to an incident with the Alexis bulk carrier that ran aground. This was reported by CNN Turk.
The General Directorate for Safety in Coastal Areas reported that the 229-meter-long Alexis bulk carrier ran aground due to a malfunction, and rescue teams were sent to the ship. The vessel was heading from Ukraine to Egypt.
“Vessel traffic in the Bosphorus has been temporarily suspended in both directions,” the statement said.
In January 2023, traffic in the Bosphorus was suspended due to a stranded dry cargo ship. It was traveling from Ukraine to Istanbul.
