Trade between Ukraine and Syria has increased 9 times since the restoration of diplomatic relations. This was announced by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Andriy Sybiga following the visit of the President of Ukraine to Syria.
During the visit, Sybiga held talks with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Syria, Asaad Hassan al-Sheibani.
“We discussed a number of important areas and initiatives, primarily related to security. The security of Europe and the Middle East is interconnected. We will continue to work together to achieve sustainable peace for our peoples,” Sybiga wrote on the social network X.
The logistics of trade routes, food security, in particular, Ukraine’s contribution through such initiatives as “Grain from Ukraine”.
“Bilateral trade has already increased ninefold since the signing of the Joint Communiqué on the restoration of diplomatic relations, and we see clear opportunities for its further expansion,” said Sibiga.
The parties agreed to reopen embassies in Kyiv and Damascus as a step towards strengthening the partnership.
