The world’s first pressurized greenhouse is being built in Canada

Canadian company Rimaco Greens has unveiled an innovative 100% sealed, pressurized greenhouse that will be the world’s first demonstration platform of its kind.
This is reported by HortiDaily.
“Our goal is to provide growers with a solution that will not only ensure maximum yield and quality, but also dramatically reduce energy consumption and environmental impact,” said Angela Solano, CEO and co-founder of Rimaco Greens.
The system operates without air exchange with the outside environment, using closed water, air and condensate management loops. A key element is energy-efficient heating and cooling with thermal energy storage in the water mass. The greenhouse is equipped with a heat exchanger with 246 m³ of water, which allows for stable temperature and humidity control, as well as returning condensate to the production cycle.
“We manage temperature, humidity and water recovery completely in a closed environment. “Pressure maintenance does not allow any unfiltered air from outside,” Solano added.
According to Ricardo Solano, the company’s CTO and co-founder, the project uses energy technologies from the oil and gas industry: “We do not use air conditioning or ventilation, but instead manage the climate using stored thermal energy and integrated air and water flows.”
The development has received a grant from the Government of Canada and recognition from the SVG Ventures | THRIVE platform in Silicon Valley. A pilot facility at the Rimaco Greens Energy Innovation Center in Alberta is in the final stages. The next step will be to launch production and collect certified data on economic and technological efficiency.
